What Awaited Me at Home
Your black boss is home taking good care of your wife.
The mistake I made was returning home an hour earlier than usual. Had I known what was going down, I would have made a detour — stopped at a bar for a drink or two, bought household items at the nearest supermarket, or maybe killed another hour tidying up at the office before calling it a day. Except I did none of that, and as such, the fault was mine when I arrived home and found another man in bed with my wife.
I opened the front door and hollered, “Honey, I’m home!”
There was no response. I should have looked in the living room first, as then I would have noticed evidence that Miriam had someone around. Instead, I carried my briefcase with me and bounded up the stairs.
The bedroom door was partly open. I heard noises coming from inside and simply pushed the door open to look inside.
